FAQ
-
The eligibility check is a short set of questions about your situation: where you are now, your goal, your inquiry background, your timeline. It takes about 5 minutes and it is free.
It is a preliminary screen, not a decision. Based on your answers, it shows which visa pathways are commonly used in situations like yours and helps organize your information within your immigration profile, before you speak with an attorney. Only a licensed immigration attorney can assess your eligibility and advise you on your case. If your situation falls outside the visa categories we cover, we'll tell you that up front, so you can look for the right help elsewhere.
-
Once you've completed the eligibility check and created your profile to organize your information, we introduce you to licensed immigration attorneys whose practice covers your visa category and jurisdiction. Each attorney has been verified: bar admission, experience, and practice focus.
You review the introductions, choose who you'd like to speak with, and have your consultation. You are never obligated to hire anyone we introduce you to, and the attorney is never obligated to take your case. Immigration Pathways is not a law firm and not a lawyer referral service. We don't select an attorney for you or steer you toward one; we introduce you to attorneys whose stated practice covers your situation, and the choice is yours.
-
There are two parts. The eligibility check and organizing your information on Immigration Pathways are free. Legal fees are set by the attorney you choose, agreed directly between you and them, and shown to you before you commit. Government filing fees are separate and set by USCIS and the State Department.
Attorneys on the platform quote fixed-scope fees wherever the case allows, so you know the cost of each stage up front rather than paying by the hour. We don't add a percentage to your attorney's fee, and we never charge you for an introduction.
-
Yes. Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and it is visible only to you and to the attorney you choose to work with. It is not shown to other attorneys on the platform, not shared with third parties, and not used for anything other than your own case. It is not used to train AI models.
You control what you share. Attorneys see a summary of your situation only after you've chosen to be introduced. If you decide not to proceed, you can ask us to delete your information at any time.
-
A previous denial doesn't stop you from using Immigration Pathways, and it's important to include it in your answers. Attorneys need the full picture, including prior applications, denials, and your current status, to give you accurate advice.
Whether a prior denial affects your options depends on the reason for it and on your current situation. That's a legal question, and only a licensed immigration attorney can answer it for you. The eligibility check and your profile will still organize your information so that the attorney you speak with has everything they need to assess it.
-
You're free to handle your case however you choose. You can use the eligibility check and the profile - organized summary of your information with any attorney, including one you already know, or you can prepare and file on your own. Nothing on Immigration Pathways obligates you to hire an attorney we introduce you to.
What we'd say honestly: immigration filings are unforgiving of mistakes, and the cost of an error is often measured in months. Most people benefit from having a licensed attorney at least review their case. But that decision is yours, and we don't give legal advice about it.
-
Immigration Pathways currently covers employment-based and family-based pathways to the United States, including O-1A, EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, H-1B, L-1, PERM-based green cards, J-1 waivers, F-1 / OPT / CPT questions, marriage- and family-based green cards, adjustment of status, and consular processing.
If your situation falls outside these categories, we'll tell you up front, so you can look for the right help elsewhere. We don't currently cover asylum, removal, or deportation defense.
-
You choose which attorney to speak with and book a consultation. In that consultation the attorney reviews your situation, tells you which pathway they recommend and why, and quotes their fee. If you decide to go ahead, the engagement is directly between you and the attorney, on their terms and their fee agreement.
From there, your case runs in a shared workspace on Immigration Pathways: you upload documents, message your attorney securely, and see your case status, milestones, and next steps at any time. No more wondering where your case stands or chasing updates by email. Your attorney remains fully in charge of the legal strategy and the filing.
-
Yes. Many people using Immigration Pathways are already in the United States on a visa such as F-1, H-1B, L-1, or J-1, or are here with a family member, and are looking at their next step: a change of status, an extension, an employment-based green card, or a family-based one.
Your current status matters a great deal to which options are open to you and to timing, so the eligibility check asks about it. The attorney you speak with will advise you on what your status allows, including whether you can adjust status inside the U.S. or need to process through a consulate abroad. We don't make that determination ourselves.
-
No. Immigration Pathways is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The eligibility check, the pathway information on this site, and anything our team tells you are general information to help you understand your options and organize your case. They are not a legal opinion about your situation, and using the platform does not create an attorney-client relationship with us.
Legal advice comes from the licensed immigration attorney you choose to work with. Your attorney–client relationship is with them, your communications with them are protected in the ordinary way, and they are responsible for your legal strategy and filings.
